In this little painting titled "Cooling" I departed from my usual red ground, to paint on Cobalt Blue. The resulting image, because of the blue ground, shifted the mood to a quieter, more somber feel, coinciding with my reaction to the scene. It was a cool morning along the South Carolina coast. I stood alone among huge old oaks, overlooking inter-coastal salt flats.
